Chef couple (Chef Samay and Chef Rebecca) with their eagerness and will to make Gurgaon experience Australia food through thier Cafe in Bani Square, South City 2 got down to open this little beauty called Cafe Kangaroos. Chilled ambience, smiling staff, outdoor seating on an artificial grass turf are some of the noticeable factors about the place.
We took the outside table only to become spectator to some lip smacking food and lovely calm outdoors.
We decided to go by chef’s recommendation and ordered for Death by Chocolate shake and Iced Mocha.
Death by Chocolate – as aptly described by chef Samay was heavenly. The shake was thick, appropriately sweet and full of chocolate. Topped with light and fluffy cream, chocolate flakes and Chocolate brownies. A single bite would surely leave you gasping for more.
Iced Mocha – Topped with chocolate flakes, since I asked for a strong coffee I got the right amount of sugar and coffee to comfortably say my strong coffee was bang on as to how I would like it to be.
Veg Animal fries – Firstly thanks a lot chef for introducing me to the exciting world of Animal Fries. The good old way to having fries is passé with this new entrant.
They are served messy and supposed to eat in a more messier manner. The fries were served in a basket topped with nacho sauce, tomatoes, onions, thousand island sauce. If this wasn’t enough you will also find olives, jalapenos and finely chopped and fried potatoes. Tasted similar to Nachos but had fries, also all the dressing were well spread throughout the fries, unlike the Nachos where everything stays on top and nothing much seeps in. It is indeed a must try.
Chicken Wings – The awesomely tender chicken wings were marinated in spicy, barbeque and ranch sauce. As I am not a chilly fan, hence loved the Barbeque marinated chicken wings the most. Liked the margination and the blast of flavours with the first bite.
They were also served with the chef’s original innovation – The Chilli Sauce, which is worth a dip for sure.
Captain Cook Burger – The huge burger having tomatoes, secretly fried onion rings, jalapenos, mushrooms with a chicken patty, and all these dressed tastefully with cheddar cheese, mayo and barbeque sauce in the bottom layer to give the burger a taste which just cannot be described in words. As we say sometimes expression speak louder than words. The burger was super duper yumm and alluring. The portion size was huge. Burger was served along with fries and of course you will also find the secret spicy dip/sauce on the table.
Soulvaki Platter – One of their bestselling Greek platters which promise to take you to the Greek land with their super fresh Tzatziki (Green yogurt) and the other traditional flavours of olive oil with garlic and lemon juice. The platter had good portions of Cottage Cheese tikka, pita and yummy salad. But show stopper for me was Tzatziki, loved the freshness of the dip.
Last up was my favourite and highly anticipated part of the meal – Desserts .
We were served the Fudgie Brownie – Chef’s recommendation and her favourite too. The brownies laid all relaxed in hot chocolate sauce filled tup, elegantly topped with a mint leaf. It was chocolate in abundance. The first bite into the brownie and it was heaven indeed. The brownies were super-duper soft and chocolaty and just melted upon keeping your mouth. The Germany imported chocolate sauce even played its part to take me to the chocolate dreamland. A delightful dessert. Must try
The best part of the meal was that all the sauces and the brownies in the dessert are all prepared in house, and that’s one of the reason as to why everything served was so fresh and flavourful.
I am also looking forward to enjoy their breakfast menu super soon and gorge on their drool worthy desserts.
Highly recommended for their Animal Fries, Kickass burgers and Desserts
